Jenny Kee: The Aunties
Magnificent public art installations will be dotted throughout Greater Sydney during Sydney Festival and South Eveleigh is proud to showcase Jenny Kee’s new artwork, sprouting up this summer at soaring new heights.

Jenny Kee: The Aunties is an outsized representation of Jenny Kee’s real aunties, Auntie Marge and Auntie Una, both highly skilled and successful sewers who supported, inspired and guided Kee to be the influential designer and artist she has become today. The enormous squiggly anthropomorphic pair will stand proud and tall at South Eveleigh from January 5-29, presenting a bold new interpretation of Jenny Kee’s most iconic Uni-Oz Stripe artwork like you’ve never seen before.
She’s the globally beloved Sydney artist responsible for the ultimate stripe artwork that celebrates key Australian symbols such as the Opera House, Bondi, waratah, boomerang, map of Australia and more. Jenny Kee’s designs have been featured at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, to Italian Vogue to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Now, her work is set to grace Locomotive Street at the heart of South Eveleigh in the form of two enormous inflatables towering into the summer sky.

South Eveleigh is home to a curated collection of public art accessible to everyone for free, featuring unique artworks by renowned artists such as Nell, Chris Fox and Jonathan Jones. We invite you to explore and immerse yourself in both the contemporary art and historic elements we have on offer, including Eveleigh Works, one of the last remaining industrial blacksmithing workshops in the world.
Sydney Festival has partnered with Lucky Kwong, Re, Eat Fuh, Pepper Seeds Boutique Thai Bites and BrewDog South Eveleigh to offer curated $30 and $55 menus as part of their Festival Feasts. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and cafés along Locomotive Street to choose from when it’s time to fuel up, with dine-in or takeaway options perfect for a picnic at our vast and leafy landscape designed by Jiwah featuring a plethora of native plants.
