Sydney Open 2023
South Eveleigh is proud to be a major partner of Sydney Open 2023, a premier architectural event taking place on Sunday, 5th November.
Sydney Open provides a unique chance to explore structures and locations that would typically remain off-limits, allowing you to discover places rarely open to the general public. During this event, you can partake in guided tours and discussions that delve into the historical and cultural importance of iconic buildings and properties from the Sydney CBD to the Eastern Suburbs.

The activities marked with an asterisk (*) are available exclusively for City Pass ticket holders only
- Exclusive access to behind-the-scenes areas and tenancies such as Quantium and Omnicom Media Group featuring South Eveleigh's heritage pieces.
- Hands-on weaving sessions with ExMateria in Work Club Locomotive at 11am, 1pm and 3pm*
- Access to Community Rooftop Garden and yarns with Clarence Slockee of Jiwah*
- Heritage guided tours with Curio Projects – there are four slots available at 10am, 11am, 2pm and 3pm. Meet up point for the 10am and 2pm sessions is in front of Romeo's Foodhall IGA, and the meet up point for the 11am and 3pm sessions is the on Locomotive Street, outside Bay 4.*
Guided Heritage Tours with Curio Projects
- Come early and enjoy a free scoop of gelato while taking in the Eveleigh Works blacksmith workshop views at Anita Gelato. There are 500 free scoops up for grabs – everyone can redeem 1 scoop maximum per person while stock lasts. Toppings are not included.
- Take the family on a journey around South Eveleigh with our new and FREE trackless train rides from 11am-3pm. There are two pick up points near BrewDog South Eveleigh and Eveleigh Green.
- Have an extra dose of fun with FREE balloon twisting and face painting! Spot the fun station located on Locomotive Street from 11am - 3pm.
- Join the fun and FREE family-friendly Scavenger Hunt, as well as the Eveleigh Gazette hat folding and colouring activity on November 4, from 11am-2pm and November 5, from 10am-4pm
Free kids heritage activities
- Heritage Exhibition Space (located above BrewDog South Eveleigh, use the stairs/ lift near Romeo's Foodhall IGA to access) will be open to explore Locomotive Workshop’s historical artifacts. FREE entry - everyone is welcome!
- Discover the heritage landmarks throughout South Eveleigh, including the Steam Boilers, Worker’s Wall, Spring Shop and Red Square. You can also learn more about the history of the precinct through projections and interactive screens

- Theatrical performances with historic references
- Dine and drink at BrewDog South Eveleigh while being surrounded by the Locomotive Workshop’s iconic heritage features. Colouring activities will also be available for kids. Book a table here
- Other dining options include Whitton Eveleigh, Fishbowl, KürtÅ‘sh, Pepper Seeds Boutique Thai Bites and Romeo’s Foodhall IGA
- The Eveleigh event space by The Grounds will draw open their curtains for public viewing and Bodyfit Platinum tours are available to explore the premium gym facilities
- South Eveleigh is home to magnificent Public Art, lush outdoor spaces and gardens, and free amenities including the Sports Courts complex, skate park and ping pong tables. Be sure to explore and enjoy all that the precinct has to offer
South Eveleigh can easily be reached via public transport – just a short walk from Redfern Station. Convenient parking is available at 2 Central Avenue – 2 hours free with validation at retailers on weekdays and free with entry after 6pm.
