Nourishing the RPA frontline workers - a collaboration with Addi Road and South Eveleigh

Nurses are at the forefront of our healthcare system, working 24/7 during the current crisis – often without the recognition and support they deserve.

As the biggest of thank yous to our frontline nursing staff, South Eveleigh joined forces with Addison Road Community Organisation, South Eveleigh’s ambassador for food, culture and community Kylie Kwong and her team at Lucky Kwong and other fabulous South Eveleigh eateries Bekya, Pepper Seeds Thai, Eat Fuh and Matt Whiley’s Re bar to create an array of delicious dishes (and non-alcoholic drinks) for our hardworking Sydney Local Health District staff at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

South Eveleigh’s eateries cooked with love, creating 50 meals for the ICU nurses at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and delivered by Addi Road, marking the beginning of a collaboration to show our appreciation and thanks.

The dishes included 'Lucky’s vegetarian Hokkien noodle salad with South Eveleigh native bush mint' and 'Lucky’s special RPA fried rice' from Lucky Kwong, 'Wally’s Koshari and Egyptian falafels' from Bekya, 'Hanny and Hoang’s vegetarian vermicelli stir-fry' from Eat Fuh and 'Tom’s yellow curry with tofu and vegetables' from Pepper Seeds Thai, all washed down with Matt Whiley’s 'non-alcoholic Peach and Mandarin Amerciano' from Re.

The meals were part of a new weekly ritual for 10 weeks where health workers are provided with what Kylie says will be “a nourishing boost to their spirits and tummies before starting yet another long, complex, often heartbreaking shift”.

“Thank you SO much to each and every one of you for your courage, heroic efforts, continuous kindness and compassion, and sheer hard, hard work over these last several years especially. Thank you for looking out for everyone and for keeping the community safe, comforted and cared for” said Kylie Kwong on behalf of South Eveleigh.
